One of the major concerns when purchasing an electric car is the initial price of the car. While the starting price of an electric car starts around $30,000, you will save money in the long run. With tax credits and saving money on gas, an electric car may actually be cheaper than a traditional car. You might be asking yourself, well what about charging the car? On average, it will cost you $100 a month to keep your car charged up and ready to roll.

The other major concern for electric cars has been coined "range anxiety", which is the fear that you will run out of power during your trip and leave you stranded on the road. However, you shouldn't fear range anxiety. Electric cars are commuter cars. The average American has a commute of around 40 miles in a day, and the 2017 Nissan Leaf can take you there. With a range of 150 miles in a single charge, the Nissan Leaf can get you to and from work with some miles to spare.

Not only are electric cars better for the environment and your wallet, but they are also a joy to drive! With 147 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque, a mountain is no problem. The Nissan Leaf gets up and going! With a 0-60 mph time of 9.9 seconds, electric cars are quickly becoming a smart and efficient way to get around town. One special thing about the Leaf is that you'll want to avoid extreme temperatures. Exposure to extreme temperatures can cause harm to the battery.

The Nissan Leaf has a great battery life in it. With a 150-mile range, and only an eight-hour charging period, you can easily and efficiently get around town during the day, and charge your car at night. The vehicle can charge in your garage or one of more than 30,000 charging stations across the United States. There are even apps like the LEAF EZ Charge-app or PlugShare for your phone to show you exactly where the nearest charging stations are. There are three different charging options for the Leaf, depending on the model you choose. The 3.6 kW onboard charger will charge the vehicle in 8 hours, while the 6.6 kW onboard charger will charge the car in 5.5 hours. The Nissan Leaf S comes standard with a 3.6 kW onboard charger (with an option to upgrade to a 6.6 kW charger), while the Leaf SV and SL trims have a 6.6 kW charger. A 240-volt at home charging system is also an additional charge.

A top concern for most people when it comes to purchasing an electric car is the battery. How long will an electric battery hold a charge? How do you know when it's time to recharge? When does the battery need to be replaced? All great and valid questions. The battery will hold its' charge for the entire 150 mile life of the battery. You will need to recharge whenever your miles remaining starts to get low. Don't worry about replacing the battery for a while. The Nissan Leaf battery warranty provides coverage for 100,00 miles and is made of lithium so you don't have to worry about battery corrosion.

The Leaf has everything a standard car has in terms of safety, including advanced air bag systems, vehicle dynamic control, anti-lock braking, traction control and a tire pressure monitoring system. Learn more about Nissan Leaf safety features.

Electric cars also have fewer maintenance schedules than that of traditional cars. Without traditional engines, there is no need for oil changes, spark plugs and wires or air/fuel filters which can save up to 35% over the life of your car versus the traditional car maintenance.

If you're looking for the perfect commuter car, look no further. Schedule a test drive for the Nissan Leaf today!
